Blue Belt · 3 Years Training · 7 Competition Gold Medals · Market Weighton
Meet Aurora Jenkins, our August 2026 Student Spotlight. Aurora is eight years old, a Blue Belt, and a proud member of our Market Weighton community. Three years ago, she started training because the dojang was local. Since then, she has built a competition record that speaks for itself: seven gold medals so far, including four golds in speed kicking.
Aurora’s story is not only about medals. She has worked through the feeling of being underconfident in sparring by taking extra lessons and putting in the effort to improve. That is what makes her progress so rewarding: she is not waiting for confidence to appear — she is building it, one session at a time.
Her favourite kick is the side kick, her favourite pattern is Dan-Gun, and her next target is a Red Stripe followed by the British Championships. With her focus and willingness to keep learning, Aurora is creating an exciting journey.
“Always try to persevere when it gets tough. Keep your guard up and leg chambers are important.”

Aurora’s medals are a wonderful achievement, but what has impressed me most is the way she has worked on the part of Taekwondo that felt difficult. Sparring can take real courage. Aurora recognised that she wanted more confidence, put in the extra work, and kept moving forward.
That is perseverance in action. Whether she is speed kicking, practising her side kick, or stepping onto the competition floor, Aurora brings a positive attitude and a real willingness to learn. She is also part of the kind of team culture we are proud of — one where students look after each other and cheer one another on.
Aurora, thank you for your hard work and for representing the dojang so well. Congratulations on becoming our August 2026 Student Spotlight. Keep working towards that Red Stripe and the British Championships.
Aurora would also like to thank her Nana for taking her to classes and competitions, her teammates — especially the Black Belts — and Mr Cook.
