Creating Champions for Life across East Yorkshire since 2011.
Gavin Cook has been training in Taekwondo for over 43 years and has been running Train Taekwondo Schools for 15 years. As a 5th Dan Black Belt and fully qualified TAGB instructor, Gavin has dedicated his career to helping children, juniors and families discover the life-changing benefits of martial arts.
Under Gavin's instruction, Train Taekwondo Schools has grown from a single class in East Yorkshire to a network of five locations across the region — with over 100 black belts produced and hundreds of families trained along the way.
Gavin is also a certified Ninja Skillz instructor, trained in the brain-based child development programme that has transformed how we teach children aged 3–7. His passion is simple: to help every child and adult who walks through the door become the best version of themselves.
Gavin's favourite and most devastating technique is the axe kick — a powerful downward strike that requires exceptional flexibility, timing and precision. These shots from his competing years show the technique and athleticism that he now passes on to every student.

Both of Gavin's sons, Harry and Jack, have been training in Taekwondo since the age of 5. Watching them grow in confidence, discipline and skill through the years is a constant reminder of why this matters — and what Taekwondo can do for every child who steps on the mat.
Both boys are now black belts and active competitors — living proof that the values we teach in class carry through into every area of life.
The Tae Kwon Do Association of Great Britain is Europe's largest single martial arts organisation. As a TAGB-affiliated school, all our gradings and qualifications are fully recognised and transferable.
When you join Train Taekwondo Schools, you're not just joining a local club — you're joining Europe's largest martial arts organisation. The TAGB provides a structured, nationally recognised syllabus that ensures consistent, high-quality teaching at every affiliated club.
Your belt grades are fully transferable. If you move to another part of the country, you can continue your training at any TAGB-affiliated school and your progress is fully recognised.
The TAGB also holds regular national tournaments, grading events and seminars — giving students the opportunity to test themselves, meet other practitioners and continue developing their skills beyond the local club.
