5th Kup — TAGB (ITF) Taekwondo
Welcome, Blue Stripes! 👊 Earning your Blue Stripe is a strong step forward — and now you're preparing for one of the most important milestones so far: Blue Belt. At this stage of your Taekwondo journey, the expectations rise. Your techniques should now show greater precision, power, control, and confidence, alongside a clear understanding of TAGB (ITF) standards and principles.
As you prepare for your Blue Belt grading, your patterns, combinations, and overall performance must look sharper and more controlled. Strong stances, accurate sine wave movement, crisp blocks and strikes, good balance, and correct reaction force are essential. At this level, grading examiners are looking for quality and consistency — not just knowing the techniques, but performing them with confidence and intent.
🚨 Training Commitment Is Key
If your goal is to progress toward Red Belt and ultimately Black Belt, training once a week is no longer enough. Blue Belt marks the transition into intermediate level training, and that requires greater commitment. Now is the time to train at least twice per week. More mat time means sharper technique, improved fitness, better sparring ability, and faster progression through the higher grades.
🥊 Sparring Standards Increase
Sparring expectations rise at Blue Belt. You should now be demonstrating better timing, control, distancing, combination work, and ring awareness. Confidence under pressure is key. Regular sparring will help you refine these skills and prepare you not only for grading but also for future competitions and advanced belt levels.
Below is a grading video to support your training at the club. Use it alongside your regular classes to revise your syllabus, polish your techniques, and build confidence for grading day.
Train consistently, focus on detail, listen carefully to your instructor, and push yourself outside your comfort zone — this is where your Taekwondo really begins to develop into advanced level performance. 🥋🔵
