2nd Kup — TAGB (ITF) Taekwondo
Congratulations, Red Belts! 👊 Reaching Red Belt is a significant milestone, and now you're preparing for Black Stripe — the first step toward the ultimate goal of Black Belt in your Taekwondo journey. At this level, your training emphasizes mastery, precision, power, control, and mental focus, alongside a deep understanding of TAGB (ITF) principles.
Black Stripe grading demands excellence. Every pattern, technique, and sparring session must be performed with confidence, sharpness, and consistent control. Examiners will look for strong stances, accurate strikes and blocks, fluid combinations, and the ability to perform under pressure. At this stage, attitude, discipline, and focus are just as important as physical skill.
🚨 Training Commitment is Critical
Progressing toward Black Belt requires serious dedication. Training only once or twice a week is no longer sufficient. To succeed at Black Stripe, aim for multiple sessions each week, focusing on both technique and conditioning. Extra practice builds strength, endurance, confidence, and prepares you for the advanced skills required at Black Belt.
🥊 Sparring Gets More Demanding
Sparring at Black Stripe requires advanced timing, control, combinations, and strategy. You must demonstrate awareness, adaptability, and confidence under pressure. Regular sparring is essential to develop the skills needed for both grading and competition at advanced levels.
Use the grading video provided to support your training at the club. Practice alongside your classes to refine techniques, build confidence, and fully understand what will be expected on grading day.
Commit to your training, focus on quality and consistency, and push yourself to perform at your best — Black Stripe is where you truly begin the journey to mastery. 🥋🖤
At 2nd Kup, Red Belts develop their own 1-step sparring techniques using the following five categories (not in a set order). Both attacker and defender start in parallel ready stance. The attacker steps forward with the right leg and punches with the right hand; on the second occasion, with the left leg and left hand.
Tick each item once you are confident you can perform it correctly. The progress bar tracks your practical skills — complete all of those to unlock the notification button. Theory and Korean sections are bonus items to help you prepare further. No excuses! 💪
