From Tiny Tot to World Stage

Jake first discovered Taekwondo through a taster session at school in May 2014, when he was just five years old. He came home buzzing with excitement, found out that Train Taekwondo was opening in Beverley, and signed up straight away. Twelve years later, he is still here — and the journey he has been on is nothing short of extraordinary.

At just 7 years old, Jake competed at the World Championships in 2017 and came home with a Silver Medal. It was a jaw-dropping achievement for someone so young, and it set the tone for everything that followed. He continued to compete at regional and national level throughout his colour belt years, building an impressive record of medals and experience along the way.

In what may be the most remarkable moment of his Taekwondo career, Jake earned his Black Belt at the age of 10 — just six weeks after emergency surgery. He did not let it stop him, did not make excuses, and simply got back on the mat and delivered. That is not just talent. That is character.

Now 17 and holding his 2nd Dan Black Belt, Jake continues to train and compete at the highest level. He is a natural role model for the younger students in the club — the kind of person who leads by example without even trying. His next goal is the TAGB Elite National Squad, and everyone at Train Taekwondo Schools has no doubt he will get there.

As an assistant instructor, Jake brings energy, enthusiasm, and a genuine passion for helping others improve. Having been through every stage of the journey himself — from white belt tot to 2nd Dan competitor — he understands exactly what students need at every level, and he delivers it with patience and encouragement.
